On Thursday 7 October, the Colin Maxwell exhibition in RSUA’s office opened.
The exhibition celebrates architect and accomplished artist Colin Maxwell’s work as we approach what would’ve been his 70th birthday and features over 70 sketches from his family’s collection.
Colin showed his skill with a pencil and his deep appreciation of architecture through his sketches. The exhibition showcases various finished and unfinished sketches from across Colin’s lifetime, allowing us a glimpse into his process.

Colin regularly exhibited at the Royal Ulster Academy’s annual show, and in his retirement, he found joy in capturing the beauty of Venice, drawing his favourite buildings during annual visits.
RSUA is grateful to Linda Maxwell for donating these pieces to be shown in the RSUA and to Michael Doherty and Marcus Patton for volunteering their time to hang the pieces.
