The 7th annual Perfectly Proportioned Quiz of Architecture and Other Things took place at the Black Box in Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter last night, Thursday 13 March. This year’s quiz questions were the responsibility of Ulster University. Rory Caithness, Lecturer in Architecture took on the challenge and in coordination with RSUA created eight rounds of questions covering music, film, books, dingbats, Oscar-winning film The Brutalist and even included a round inspired by quiz show Only Connect.
The Perfectly Proportioned Quiz of Architect and Other Things always involves some surprises and tasks to get the creative juices flowing! Added extras this year included a variety of spot prizes and a creative challenge which saw teams design their own tote bags (more on that below).
Ten teams competed throughout the night but it was the creatively named ‘Table at the Front’ who came out on top, to be crowned the winner of the £100 Sterling Prize, and case of wine from CECO.
All funds raised from the quiz goes to support the Simon Community NI.

Inspired by the link between fashion and architecture, this year’s creative challenge was to design an architecture-themed tote bag. Quizzers had the whole evening to work on their very own tote bag masterpiece. At the end of the night, the finished designs were presented and each team chose their winner.
Pearse Gillan and Rachel Murphy’s ‘The Deconstructed Big Fish’ was the winning design.
