The Department for Communities has launched a public consultation seeking views on it’s draft Housing Supply Strategy.

The consultation document can be found here and closes on 9 February 2022. The aim of the Strategy is to create a housing system that can deliver 100,000 plus homes over its 15-year lifetime and was developed in the context of persistently increasing numbers of people living in housing stress and the growing waiting list.

Of the five key objectives outlined in the Strategy, creating affordable options, quality and decarbonisation are of particular relevance to the built environment.

RSUA will be responding to this important consultation and is seeking members to contribute to a working group that will draft a response. All members will have the opportunity to provide feedback on the draft RSUA response.

Members willing to participate in the working group, please contact RSUA’s Policy and Public Affairs Officer, Emmet Doyle, on emmet@rsua.org.uk by Friday 14 January 2022.

The first meeting of the working group will take place online via Teams at 2pm on Tuesday 18 January 2022.

In addition, the consultation team is holding two online briefing sessions where members can attend and ask questions.  Both events are to be held on Monday 17 January at both 2pm and 7pm.  Members wishing to attend can register their attendance here.  For those who cannot attend questions can still be submitted to the email address above.
