On 10 December 2020 RSUA met the Education Minister, Peter Weir MLA, and the Infrastructure Minister, Nichola Mallon MLA, alongside ARUP and Sustrans to discuss the Active Schools Travel Index.
RSUA requested the meeting to introduce the scheme and also to seek the support of the respective Ministers and their departments in realising its potential. The Education Minister indicated an agreement in principle to provide anonymised pupil postcode data to help develop the project. RSUA will make a formal proposal to the Infrastructure Minister on how to roll out the scheme before Christmas.
