The RSUA Council met today in 2 Mount Charles.
RSUA President John Lavery invited Paul McAlister to accept his Past President’s medal, thanked him for leading Council for two years from 2022 to 2024 and for continuing to offer his guidance in his role as Past President.
Each Council meeting includes a debate. This meeting’s debate was entitled, ‘‘If a planning application hasn’t been decided after a defined timeframe, it should receive automatic approval’. The debate was led by Dáithi MacLámhim and Catherine Mallon, with Catherine putting forward points against the motion and Dáithi putting forward points in favour of the motion.
As part of the Student Representatives update, QUB representative Oileán Galligan reported on his success at the World Architecture Festival Student Charette. Council Members briefly discussed what a local charette might look like.
At the last meeting it was agreed that Ciarán Fox would provide an analysis to Council members on RSUA membership figures over the past few years. Ciarán shared a presentation on screen detailing RSUA membership numbers and ARB registrations. Council discussed the trends that appeared in the presentation.
RSUA Council will next meet on 12 May 2025.
