Over the past seven years, RSUA has sought to tackle the issue of fair pay for Part 1 graduates following some reports of unattractive and at times exploitative terms and conditions.
By 2023, 87 practices had signed up to the RSUA Commitments to Fair Pay for Part 1 Graduates. The headline commitment is to pay a minimum of the Real Living Wage as set by the Living Wage Foundation. On 24th October 2023 it was announced that the UK Real Living Wage will increase from £10.90 an hour to £12 an hour and that employers should implement this increase by no later than 1st May 2024. On 24th November 2023 RSUA will inform our student members of the increase in the Real Living Wage as set by the Living Wage Foundation, along with a list of employers who have agreed to continue honouring the commitments. We will also be asking all current Part 1 graduates to report any deviations from the set of commitments.
