These beautiful cards portray local scenes and are created by County Down artist Alison Ormsby using 100% pure silk.

The images are created by stretching the silk onto wooden frames. Images are drawn freehand before being painted with specialist silk paints.

Parliament Buildings was built to house the newly formed government of Northern Ireland. It is often referred to as Stormont because of its location within the Stormont Estate in East Belfast. Designed by Arnold Thornely, it was opened by Edward, Prince of Wales in 1932.

Card dimensions  105mm x 148mm, individually wrapped in compostable cello sleeve packaging with coordinating envelope.

Alison Ormsby from Bangor graduated in Wildlife Illustration from Dyfed College of Art. Her work has been selected for several Royal Ulster Academy exhibitions.

Alison set up her business AliO Designs to individually craft cards using her hand painted images using 100% pure silk.  Images are drawn freehand with gutta resists using a fine nib before being painted with specialist silk paints.  Once dry, details are added to individual images before being cut and frayed by hand.  Each is unique.  Any lettering is highlighted with 3D transparent paint and the silk image may be further highlighted with a few spots of sparkle.

This landmark card is from her Northern Ireland Icon range. which gives explanatory text on the back.  Being hand crafted, cards may vary slightly from the photographed image.
