Part 3 Students prepare for practice at annual event

This afternoon, 50 Part 3 Architecture students, recently qualified architects and architects gathered in the Canada Room in Queen’s Lanyon Building for the annual Preparing for Practice event.

RSUA, in partnership with Architecture at Queen’s and ARCex, holds this event each year for all Part 3 students due to take their exams in September. It aims to provide an informal pre-exam discussion led by experts in their respective fields.

Whilst this event is focused on helping Part 3 students prepare for their final exams it also provided a useful refresher to both architects and Part 2 students. 

This year we were pleased to welcome the following speakers:

• Joan McCoy, White Ink Architects – How the Building Safety Act is coming to Northern Ireland
• Adrian Malleson, RIBA – Construction economics
• Breffni Greene, Henry J Lyons – AI in professional practice
• Jim Armstrong, JS Held – Being held accountable
• Jenny Russell, RIBA – Mandatory competences & ‘The Way Ahead’

RSUA wishes to extend our thanks to all the speakers for voluntarily providing their time and expertise. Thank you also to Neil Mathews of ARC-ex and Alan Jones from Queen’s University for their final words of wisdom to the Part 3 students ahead of their exams.
