Over 50 practices now signed up to Fair Pay for Part 1 Graduates

RSUA was alerted by a number of student members about the unattractive, and at times exploitative, terms and conditions that they were being expected to work under in some organisations in Northern Ireland. We have sought to tackle this issue head-on over the last two years. Click here for more background.

I’m pleased to report that now over 50 practices are signed up to the RSUA Commitments to Fair Pay for Part 1 Graduates. The headline commitment is to pay a minimum of the UK Living Wage as set by the Living Wage Foundation. This recently increased to £9 per hour.

Today we are informing all of our 300 student members of the new list of employers who are signed up to the commitments. Some of these employers may also have live job opportunities. If you are working in a practice that is not signed up to these Commitments please contact us, confidentially, as we may be able to help find you another opportunity.

Honouring Commitments

These commitments are only of any value if they are honoured by all organisations that sign up to them. We have reminded all Fair Pay organisations to ensure that they are meeting the commitments. Whilst the commitments are made voluntarily, having publicly made them any breach of the commitments could be considered a breach of Standard 1 of the ARB Architects Code of Conduct.

If you are aware of a Fair Pay employer failing to honour the Commitments please report this directly to me, confidentially, on ciaran@rsua.org.uk or 028 9032 3760.
