Architects across Northern Ireland raised £19,000 in 2025 through the Ask an Architect initiative, organised by the Royal Society of Ulster Architects (RSUA). The funds will support local cancer research through Friends of the Cancer Centre. Sponsored by Progressive Building Society and NIE Networks, the scheme has now generated more than £100,000 for the charity since it began.
This year’s campaign saw more than 190 members of the public take part, with over 30 architects generously volunteering their time to provide consultations.
Ask an Architect gives members of the public the opportunity to meet with experienced chartered architects for an hour-long consultation in exchange for a £50 donation. Participants receive expert advice on a wide range of projects, from home extensions and one-off houses to commercial premises, community developments and conservation work.
Throughout the initiative, architects from across Northern Ireland shared their professional insight and practical guidance, helping participants explore ideas and move their projects forward.
Thanks to the continued support of sponsors Progressive Building Society and NIE Networks, 100% of the funds raised were donated directly to Friends of the Cancer Centre at Belfast City Hospital.
The Ask an Architect 2026 initiative will launch on Monday 13 April. More information is available at askanarchitect-ni.com.
