NI Housing Executive launches strategy to improve rural housing

23/08/2021

Reaching Rural, the Housing Executive’s draft strategy for 2021-2025, has been launched for public consultation.

The consultation has been developed following pre-consultation and discussion with stakeholders. The draft strategy reflects the housing challenges faced by rural tenants and the growing demand and changing policy context for the development of new rural homes.

The draft Rural Strategy sets out three high level outcomes, twelve priorities and 29 proposed actions under the three cross cutting themes of:

1. Supporting rural customers;
2. Enabling the provision of affordable rural homes; and
3. Securing the future of rural communities.

The NIHE has set up two online consultation presentations on Thursday 26 August at 10.30am and Thursday 9 September at 10.30am. These can be accessed via the following link: https://nigov.webex.com/nigov/j.php?MTID=m0da3cdf166b83a0c5a0184d30fa71519,

More details as well as the draft strategy, executive summary and consultation response form are available here.

The consultation closes on 30September, and RSUA is looking for a volunteer or group of volunteers to help prepare a response on behalf of the organisation. Anyone interested should email Jude Faloon to find out more.
