Ciaran McConnell was awarded RSUA Honorary Membership at RSUA’s annual Architecture Night, held at the Former Good Shepherd Convent on 17 October 2025.

Ciaran McConnell is the Managing Director of JP Corry, one of Northern Ireland’s leading suppliers of building materials. He started working there as a 20 year old sales assistant in the trade centre and he must’ve done something right because a mere 14 years later he was the Managing Director.
JP Corry has supported RSUA for decades but under Ciaran’s leadership the partnership has strengthened.
He has helped enhance the RSUA Practices Services Scheme and has been a foundational supporter of the RSUA Design Awards.

Ciaran has also helped RSUA to provide opportunities for architects to learn from other places. Study trips to Sweden, Santiago de Compostela and even down Ireland’s only Gypsum mine in Cavan have proved both highly educational and highly entertaining.

And whenever Ciaran was first presented with the idea of Architecture Night and making the impossible, possible – his enthusiasm to help make it happen was tangible.

But perhaps the most unique contribution that Ciaran has made to the local architectural scene has been his steadfast support for Early Career Architects and in particular the annual design competitions which have resulted in some wonderful projects.

To say Ciaran McConnell is a supporter of RSUA is a gross understatement. Ciaran is a friend to RSUA, a man who makes things happen, who backs new ideas and a man who wants to see architecture flourish in Northern Ireland. And he does it all with a genuine courtesy, trust and decency.
Ciarán Fox welcomed Ciaran McConnell to the stage and RSUA President John Lavery presented Ciaran with his Honorary Membership.
