
On Friday 30 May, the outcome of the first ever election to choose the next RSUA President was announced at the RSUA Annual General Meeting.
All chartered members were invited to vote for the next President. Following the counting and scrutineering of the votes received, James Grieve was duly elected as President-elect. He will serve in this role for one year until the AGM in 2026 and then as President for two years from the AGM in 2026 until May 2028.
Also announced at the AGM were the results of the RSUA Council elections. Ciaran Brown, Karen Crilly, Joan McCoy, Lisa Park and Stephen Salley were re-elected for a three-year term on Council. Colin Shaw was re-elected to serve a one-year term. The two newly elected Council Members for 2025 were Fergal Rainey and Alan Ritchie.
RSUA President John Lavery thanked the following Council members whose terms ended in 2025: Mark Reid, David Coyles, Joanne Hassan, Scott Caithness and Andrew O’Doherty (resigned from Council in May 2025). John also thanked the two student representatives who joined Council for the year in 2024/25, Oileán Galligan from QUB and Aimee Murray from UU.
This year’s AGM was held in the Liam McCormick Prize winning building of the year, the Student Hub at Queen’s Business School by TODD Architects.
