The fire and rescue college provides a base for standardised training and education for firefighters which can be utilised by fire crews from all over Northern Ireland. The site is vast, covering 27 hectares and allows firefighters to complete realistic training in a simulated environment where hazards and scenarios can be safely demonstrated. These include, road traffic collision training, collapsed buildings, industrial and chemical training along with provision for flood and river rescue.

Kennedy Fitzgerald Architects and Arcadis were appointed to lead the Integrated Consultancy Team for this project which was the second phase of the NIFRS masterplan. RPP Architects were appointed by the contractor as part of the Integrated Supply Team.

The tour was delivered by Damien Day from Kennedy Fitzgerald Architects alongside representatives from Arcadis and RPP Architects.
