RSUA President John Lavery and RSUA Director Ciaran Fox welcomed their counterparts from the four other representative bodies for architects across the UK and Ireland to the RSUA today. They were joined online by Muyiwa Oki, President of the Royal Institute of British Architects and in person by Sean Mahon (Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland President) & Kathryn Meghen (Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland CEO), Tamsie Thomson (The Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland Director), Dan Benham (Royal Society of Architects in Wales President) & Elinor Weekley (Royal Society of Architects in Wales Director).
Also in attendance were RSUA Past President Joan McCoy and RIAS Past President Chris Stewart.
The group discussed a series of important issues including competency of architects, the Grenfell Phase II report and a Five Nations conference to take place in 2025. Each organisation also gave an update on the work being carried out in their region.
The Five Presidents meetings happen twice a year, and the group will next meet in London in June.
