The most recent Council meeting of the Royal Society of Ulster Architects (RSUA) included a callout to members and the public for potential ideas for future exhibitions of architects work.
Chair of the RSUA’s Exhibition Committee, Michael Doherty, gave an update to the council on recent work, including December’s Architects as Artists event which saw more than fifty pieces exhibited both in person and online in the virtual version of the gallery. A further callout has been put out to members for ideas for future exhibitions and expand on projects which are already in development.
In other discussions, RSUA is looking to re-establish an Education and Careers Committee in order to promote architecture as an important discipline within the arts provision of STEAM subjects. Those willing to join the committee should email Jude Faloon on jude@rsua.org.uk.
RSUA President Donal MacRandal led a discussion on issues relating to NBS Chorus which will be carried forward to RIBA. The RSUA is actively seeking details from members about what alternative software options are used, particularly by smaller practices.
For the debate section of the meeting, members discussed the idea that social media has made it difficult to be recognised for authors of their work.
The next RSUA council meeting will be held on Monday 14 March 2022.
