The economy of the Republic of Ireland continues to perform very strongly and increasingly architects in Northern Ireland are looking south to bolster their local workload. The attraction is not just the opportunity for new work but also the profitability of the work.

However, seeking to win and then undertake work in a different jurisdiction inevitably brings some practical challenges.

Following a 4.6/5 rating from attendees of last year’s event, RSUA has again partnered with Queen’s University Belfast to organise an in-person workshop, designed to help RSUA members to navigate these challenges.

This event is targeted at architects and future-architects interested in working in the Republic of Ireland and those already doing so, who wish to consolidate their knowledge.

Workshop content

The workshop will cover the following topics:

  • Registering to work in the Republic of Ireland
  • Appointment and RIAI/Public Sector Programme of Work
  • Health and Safety
  • Major changes to the planning application and approval system
  • Building Control
  • Assigned Certifier
  • Building Contracts (with a focus on the new RIAI Construction contract)
  • Capital Works Management Framework
