
RSUA, as a member of the Construction Professionals Council of Northern Ireland, invites you to attend this CPCNI event on 12 March at the Ulster University Belfast Campus.
The event will see John Riches, one of the construction industry’s leading arbitrators and adjudicators, member of JCT Contracts Board of Directors and Vice-Chair of the JCT Drafting Sub-Committee, present an overview of the new JCT Target Cost Contract and outline the impact on professionals and industry of the recent Ardmore adjudication case. The presentation will also cover the subsequent BDW Trading Ltd v Ardmore Construction Ltd [2024] EWHC 3235 (TCC), which relates to the Defects Premises Act 1972, Building Safety Act 2022 and the recently introduced of Defective Premises Act (Northern Ireland) 2024.

John Riches, managing director of Henry Cooper Consultants, Norwich, with over 40 years’ experience acts in building, civil engineering, process and heavy engineering, nuclear, mechanical and electrical. A Chartered Builder, Chartered Quantity Surveyor, Chartered Civil Engineering Surveyor, Adjudicator, Arbitrator, Expert Determiner and Mediator. He has wide experience of all forms of contractual arrangement including standard JCT, ICE, NEC GC/Wks, FIDIC, IChemE. John has been appointed to over 600 Adjudication appointments and over 50 Arbitration appointments, including a number of recent building cladding cases.
