DfC requests RSUA members’ feedback for Architecture Policy Review

25/02/2025

The Department for Communities (DfC) is conducting a review of the Architecture and the Built Environment Policy for Northern Ireland. The policy aims to establish guidelines for making cities, towns, and neighbourhoods more inspiring and welcoming through high-quality architecture, landscaping, and urban planning.

The current policy is now 19 years old and requires renewal to address issues such as climate change, planning reforms, and the restructuring of Government Departments.

As part of this update, the Department seeks to emphasise the contribution that good design in the built environment makes to the Executive’s objectives, including regeneration, economic and community development, sustainability, improved health and well-being, as well as the preservation of built and natural heritage.

DfC has invited RSUA members to take part in a Stakeholder Questionnaire. The feedback will be used by the Department to help evaluate the current policy’s performance and to identify themes and priorities for the updated policy.

The questionnaire will remain open until 5pm on Friday, 14th March 2025.

If you have any queries about the questionnaire or wider policy review, please contact Curtis Large, RSUA Policy and Public Affairs Officer, at curtis@rsua.org.uk
