Department of Finance consulting on post-Grenfell Building Regulations

The Department of Finance recently launched a consultation to seek views on proposals to amend the local Building Regulations and associated technical guidance booklets to:

• Introduce a new regulation that effectively bans the use of ‘combustible materials’ on the external walls of ‘relevant buildings’ and introduce guidance in relation to ‘Assessments in lieu of tests’; and
• Make reference to a revised Atlas Map that will be used to establish if a dwelling is located in a radon affected area
