20/01/2021

The Department for the Economy has published new research into energy efficiency policy to inform the development of an Energy Strategy for Northern Ireland. The research identifies a number of social and economic benefits in reducing energy consumption in line with the UK commitment to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

The report also contains several recommendations to help achieve this ambition, including a one stop shop for building owners, the establishment of minimum energy efficiency standards, extra financial support for retrofitting, the development of an energy efficiency target for NI, and an accreditation scheme for local retrofit installers.

The detail of the report can be read here.
