Both RIBA and RIAI have come forward with guidelines on how practices can contribute to reaching net zero targets by 2030.
The separate documents, both titled ‘The 2030 Climate Challenge’ offer a stepped approach for practices to adopt, measure against and report back on.
Within it’s guidance, RIAI President, Ciaran O’ Connor FRIAI encourages architects to “evaluate the way they currently design and to make the necessary changes needed to meet the reductions and targets outlined”.
In the same document, RIBA President, Simon Allford comments “I am extremely encouraged to see the RIAI adopt a similar set of standards to the RIBA 2030 Climate Challenge…I urge all members to sign up and commit themselves to designing for outcome-based building performance.”
