RSUA met with the Climate Emergency Committee on 30th November 2022.
Some key discussions that took place included the following topics:
- The benefit of meeting with local councils around planning
- A recent Dfl consultation on proposed changes to the permitted development rights for domestic microgeneration equipment
- A new Dfl consultation on a proposed Energy ‘One Stop Shop’ Strategy
- The launch of the Climate Emergency Paper
- The arrangement of meetings with Queen’s University and Ulster University on how climate emergency is integrated into student’s teaching
- The 2030 RIBA Climate Change document

- RSUA to arrange a meeting with Head of the Northern Ireland Environmental Agency
- RSUA to arrange a meeting for further discussion on consultations and its role as a consultee in the planning process
- Committee members to be sent current draft of RSUA Climate Emergency paper
- RIBA 2030 target metrics for domestic / residential buildings to be adjusted for relevance to Northern Ireland
- Climate emergency commitments to be included as an agenda item for the next committee meeting
