Celebrating Architects’ Artistic Talents

On the evening of Thursday 1 December, for the 41st year running, RSUA launched the annual Architects as Artists Exhibition. An exhibition which aims to celebrate the varied artistic talents of Architects. This year, 17 architects submitted 33 pieces of work, mediums used includes oil, watercolour, acrylic, screen prints and even for the first time, prints on t-shirts. Over 50 guests gathered both online via our virtual gallery and in-person at the RSUA Offices to celebrate the launch of the exhibition.

Every year our RSUA President selects one piece of artwork to receive the President’s Choice award. This year, RSUA President Paul McAlister selected Michael Doherty’s piece ‘Diluting Diversity’.

Exhibition is now open

For anyone wishing to view the exhibition, it is open to the public between 2.30pm and 5pm, weekdays only, 5th-19th December 2022, at 2 Mount Charles, Belfast, BT7 1NZ. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Virtual Gallery

Our Virtual Gallery is back for the second year running thanks to the hard work of Michael Doherty. To access the virtual gallery, simply click here and follow the below instructions to get started.

Useful hints and tips:

  • The experience is best on a laptop or desktop. With old devices it might take a little while to load so please be patient!
  • When you click the link above, join the room and make sure you change the default avatar name to your real name.
  • Leave your mic unmuted so that you can talk to others in the room. But if you have a headset or headphones with a microphone that can help with sound.
  • Once in the room you’ll want to move around to look at the works. To do so:
    • Desktop/laptop: Moving is with the arrow keys (or with W,A,S and D keys). Hold left mouse button and move mouse to rotate. (If no mouse use keyboard letters Q and E to rotate).
    • Mobile phone and tablet: pinch zoom and pan on your screen to move around.

Each work has a small adjacent grey button, when hovered over, a red tab appears and when this is clicked it provides a link to where you can learn more about the artist and buy the piece on our online shop. For ease of use when clicking the button, make sure you are close as possible to it.
