Case 3: Searching for an architect should mean finding one

8 July 2024

In August 2023 RSUA informed members of the drive to ensure that when a member of the public is looking for an architect in Northern Ireland that search engines are directing them to real architects and not to people or businesses who are not architects.

The information below details the third case that was brought forward to ARB.

Case 3: FMK Architecture

On its website, FMK Architecture referred to itself as ‘Architects’ and used the ARB logo. There was no current public connection between an architect and this business.

On 13th December 2023:

  1. FMK were described on their website as ‘architects Northern Ireland’.
  2. The architect that used to work at FMK Architecture appeared to have left employment there in May 2023 but remained listed on the FMK Architecture website.
  3. FMK Architecture were listed on google as ‘architects’.

On the back of RSUA’s case file, ARB wrote to FMK Architecture and remedial action has been taken. Examples of the before and after images are below.
