Architecture makes a splash in Belfast

Jonathan Falkingham, architect and co-founder of property development company Urban Splash will deliver a keynote public lecture on the role architecture plays in the future of our cities in Belfast on Thursday 19 September 2024.

The Building Inspiration Lecture, organised by the Royal Society of Ulster Architects (RSUA) in partnership with Arup, will be delivered to a full house at the MAC Theatre, a venue which is renowned for its architectural excellence. 

Urban Splash is involved in designing and realising an array of urban residential and commercial projects.

Their work in urban regeneration has been recognised by over 475 awards. The first phase of the Park Hill scheme in Sheffield was shortlisted for the Royal Institute of British Architects’ (RIBA) Stirling Prize in and their Brick House, Port Loop project in Birmingham received a RIBA National Award in 2023. Urban Splash’s current work focuses on creating large-scale neighbourhoods in cities, such as New Islington in Manchester.

Over the years the lecture has attracted some of the major practices in world architecture including Zaha Hadid Architects, Snøhetta and Daniel Libeskind Studio.
