Architects go the extra mile for local cancer research
04/05/2022
A group of architects hailing from practices in both Belfast and Craigavon have raised more than £4000 for local cancer research by running the Belfast Marathon.
The practices were raising money for Friends of the Cancer Centre via Ask An Architect – the RSUA’s annual charity initiative, run in partnership with The Jill Todd Trust. The scheme ordinarily asks architects to give up their time for appointments with the public who pay a £40 consultation fee. This fee is donated and helps fund vital cancer research in Northern Ireland.
Three relay teams from Todd Architects, two teams from HLM Architects and one team from McCreanor Company Architects pounded the streets of Belfast to complete the 26.2 mile course.
In addition, Paul McCreanor and Shaun Hegarty completed the marathon solo. The pledges received via the practices Just Giving pages totalled £4384.78 when donations came to close.
The RSUA team would like to offer sincere thanks to everyone who talk part in the Belfast City Marathon this year on behalf of Ask An Architect. The runners are listed below. We hope to see you again next year – if your blisters have healed by then!
