Architect-led tour of Barney’s Ruins and RSUA General Meeting

On Friday 17 April, a group of RSUA members visited Barney’s Ruins by Patrick Bradley for an architect-led tour and the RSUA General Meeting.

Patrick Bradley is an award-winning architect, known for designing bespoke residential buildings in Ireland that blend tradition with modern design. Patrick’s work has featured on Channel 4’s Grand Designs and he has taken part in the judging for RTE’s Home of the Year. Barneys Ruins, which won an RSUA Design Award in 2024, was constructed off-site from a shipping container and rests on a steel frame erected within the footprint of the original 1830s stone cottage. The barn which sat adjacent to the original cottage has been converted to a guest annex reusing the existing stone wall structure.

The General Meeting took place after the tour in Friel’s Bar & Restaurant, Swatragh. General Meetings are an opportunity for members to find out more about the organisation’s activities, to ask questions, raise issues, propose initiatives and to meet other RSUA members.

Thank you to Patrick Bradley for making the time to facilitate the tour and to all the members who attended the General Meeting.
