Annual Preparing for Practice event provides industry insights

28 August 2024

This afternoon, 50 Part 3 Architecture students, recently qualified architects and architects gathered in the Grand Central Hotel for the annual Preparing for Practice event. RSUA, in partnership with Architecture at Queen’s and ARCex, holds this event each year for all Part 3 students due to take their exams in September. It aims to provide an informal pre-exam discussion led by experts in their respective fields.

Whilst this event is focused on helping Part 3 students prepare for their final exams it also provided a useful refresher to both architects and Part 2 students.

This year we were pleased to welcome the following speakers:

  • Peter Kelly, Marsh Insurance – Being insured against liabilities
  • Joan McCoy, White Ink Architects – Embracing the role of the Principal Designer
  • Ciarán Fox, RSUA – the Defective Premises Bill
  • Martin Hare, McAdam Design – Staying in business: cashflow and profitability
  • Orla McCann, Tilting the Lens – Inclusive, accessible design and buildings: built environment for everyone

RSUA wishes to extend our thanks to all the speakers for voluntarily providing their time and expertise.

RSUA would also like to thank the sponsors of the Preparing for Practice Event, Interface and Lagan Building Solutions, who kindly contributed to the costs of running this event.
