Annual Peter Rice Lecture – Francine Houben

Wednesday 28 October 2015

All RSUA members are invited to attend the Annual Peter Rice Lecture which this year will be delivered by Francine Houben at 6pm on Wednesday 28 October 2015 in lecture theatre DKB/OG/024 in the David Keir Building on the Stranmillis Road, Belfast.

Francine Houben, creative director Mecanoo Architecten, leads the firm to success in The Netherlands and abroad, amassing a portfolio of work that is wide-ranging, inspired by global challenges and with a sustainable view on society. Her work has received international critical acclaim, each project illustrating the three fundamental elements of her architectural vision: people, place, purpose. In 2014, the Stirling Prize-nominated Library of Birmingham was named Britain’s favourite new building by viewers of the BBC. In November, Queen Máxima of The Netherlands will present the 2015 Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds Prize to Francine Houben for her oeuvre.

The lecture is organised by the School of Planning Architecture and Civil Engineering at Queen’s University Belfast and supported by Arup.
