RSUA Council held its first meeting of 2026, yesterday in 2 Mount Charles.
At the meeting, Alex Peacock, who was awarded an Alan Barnes Travel Scholarship in 2025, delivered a presentation on his trip to China.
Council members engaged in an open debate on gender equity in architecture. This debate was proposed by a member of Council following the publication of the RIBA ‘build it together’ report. After the debate, Council members were asked to consider what meaningful action RSUA should take to address the issues raised during the discussion.
Council members also discussed the Ask An Architect initiative and Council elections in 2026. Ciarán Fox updated Council members on Year 1 progress of the RSUA Four-Year Plan 2025-28 and provided an update on the new Architecture Awards.
Council agreed to the small upgrade work proposed to 2 Mount Charles. A small building subgroup will be formed to manage the work being carried out.
The next Council meeting will take place on 9 March 2026.
