A pilgrimage to timber – short study trip to Santiago de Compostela
26 July 2024
RSUA and JP Corry have teamed up to organise a short study trip to northwest Spain, 21-23 October. The trip will be made up of a small group of RSUA members, primarily architects whose work is focused on interiors.
Details of the trip are outlined below.
What’s the trip about
At a time when there is ever-growing scrutiny on the building materials used in projects, how ethically they are sourced and how they impact the natural environment, RSUA and JP Corry have teamed up with Finsa to find out more about their values and approaches to the production of wood materials.
Finsa is a Spanish based manufacturer of wood and timber products for architecture and interior design. Now almost 100 years old, what started as a local sawmill has become a supplier of wood-based products to more than 83 countries including Ireland.
We will find out about their design and production processes, as well as their approaches to circularity and environmental impact.
There will be a tour of the wood veneer and HQ factories as well as presentations from the Finsa team.
This trip will provide a minimum of 8 hours of structured continuous professional development.
