RSUA BIM Task Group Publishes Interim Report
The RSUA Building Information Modeling (BIM) Task Group, chaired by Peter Monaghan, has published its interim report.
The three key recommendations in the report are as follows:
Recommendation 1:
The Central Procurement Directorate (CPD) should continue to develop their resources to assist public sector employers in the implementation of BIM Level 2.
Recommendation 2:
Public procurement fee structures need to recognise the need for additional design development work in the early stages of a BIM Level 2 project in order to avail of the resultant benefits in the later stages.
Recommendation 3:
The Task Group felt that the Northern Ireland construction industry would benefit from ‘lessons learnt’ BIM Level 2 case studies. Reference could be made to case studies already produced by Construction IT Alliance(CitA).

The RSUA BIM Task Group was formed in June 2017 to provide constructive feedback to CPD on the operation of BIM and to examine the benefits of an architectural guide similar to the BSRIA BG6 Guide.
