Hall Black Douglas

Architect

Why did you become an architect?  Are you passionate about architectural design and delivering high quality projects despite the many challenges that must be overcome to do so?

Hall Black Douglas value a considered approach to design and a desire to meet and exceed clients aspirations.  This relies upon motivated architects working together and aligned with our ethos.

We have been transforming the spaces and communities in which we work for over thirty years. We seek to make a positive contribution designing considered spaces for living, working, wellbeing, learning, gathering and celebrating. People are at the heart of everything we do.

As a byproduct of a job well done, many of our projects have received architectural awards. A highlight from last year was picking up two of the RSUA/RIBA Regional Design Awards with our whole office in attendance at the RSUA Design Awards Gala evening.

What we are looking for:

We are looking for qualified architects who are willing to take personal responsibility for their work, within a supportive studio based environment.

Ideally we are looking for an architect who has successfully delivered projects to a high technical standard whilst retaining the original architectural intent. However, we are open to developing early career architects’ potential within the practice and providing opportunities, so attitude and demonstrated potential are equally important to us.

You would be joining a team of twenty people, working on a wide variety of interesting new build, retrofit and conservation projects across multiple sectors, including but not limited to: Community, Health, Heritage Intervention, Leisure and Residential. We have successfully delivered NZEB and BREEAM Excellent projects and as part of our ongoing tailored CPD for all staff now have qualified Passive House designers within the studio. Dependant on experience we expect staff to both mentor or be mentored within the practice.

We would encourage applications for this permanent role from those that meet the requirements below:

Essential Criteria:
ARB or RIAI Registered
Demonstration of architectural thinking, presentation, design and technical understanding

Desirable Criteria:
Demonstrated Communication Skills
Proven competency in the delivery of high quality architectural projects
Demonstration of commitment to professional training/development post qualification
Delivery of projects using BIM Level 2
Production of detailed Construction Drawing and Specification Packages
Contract Administration of Projects at Construction Stage (UK/Ireland)
Experience of UK or Ireland Contracts
UK/EU Driving Licence
