Location: Online, hosted by RSUA using Microsoft Teams
Date: 17 June 2021

Proposed RIBA Curriculum Topic: Building conservation and heritage
Restoration of period metalwork is an important and intrinsic part of many conservation projects. The nature of restoration work is fraught with peculiarities and in many respects, is much more difficult than creating something new from the ground up. Period metalwork can possess both great sentimental meaning and immense architectural and heritage value.
RSUA has organised this hour-long seminar with one of Ireland’s experts in restoring and preserving ironworks and metal works to give attendees an understanding of how best to conserve and protect this part of our built heritage.
Course Content:
The topics which will be covered in this seminar are:
- Preservation and restoration of heritage ironwork
- Case studies of key projects in Northern Ireland and further afield
- Q&A (time permitting)
