On Demand – Artificial Intelligence and The Architect

Artificial Intelligence (AI), namely the ability of computer systems to problem solve and/or perform tasks normally performed by humans, offers significant intersections, opportunities, and challenges for the architectural profession.

RSUA partnered with architect and researcher Niall Patrick Walsh to offer this online seminar to improve members’ understanding of the relationship between AI and architecture.

The seminar aimed to give architects an understanding of the important terms, concepts, and lines of innovation surrounding AI as well as a greater understanding of the historical relationship between AI and architecture. Attendees gained a greater awareness of how AI can impact positively and negatively on the architecture business model and of the responsible use of AI in the sector, including capitalising on opportunities from AI, awareness of the limitations of AI, and the potential impact of AI on the profession in the future.

Course Content:

  • What is Artificial Intelligence?
  • How is AI currently being deployed in architecture?
  • What are the future predicted uses of AI and how fast is that coming?
  • What tools (free and premium) are available?
  • What are current limitations or controversies surrounding AI in architecture?
