Compliance with CDM(NI)2016 is mandatory on virtually all construction projects, including domestic projects. Breach of CDM(NI)2016 is a criminal offense. Appointment of and the duties performed by the Principal Designer [PD] are absolute to ensure compliance. The PD must be a designer who has the necessary skills, knowledge, and experience, along with the organisational capability to fulfil the role of PD. This seminar outlines the roles and responsibilities of the PD throughout the lifetime of a project and is suitable for anyone undertaking the role of Principal Designer.

Speaker Bio
Jim Armstrong is a forensic architect and expert witness at Sense Studio, a part of JS Held, based in London. Jim is an RIBA Chartered Architect with 30 years’ architectural experience and has an LLM in Construction Law, Arbitration and Adjudication with 10 years’ experience is construction dispute resolution. Jim is a panel member ARB Inquirer providing expert reports for complaints of unacceptable professional conduct and/or serious professional incompetence against architects.
