Qualifying to manage public works contracts in NI

In June 2019 the Construction and Procurement Delivery Division of the Department of Finance (CPD) specified that all construction work contracts awarded must be managed by a suitably qualified person.

There are two routes for consultants to meeting this requirement:

  1. Complete Module 2 of the Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE) Law and Contract Management Examination. The examination for this module with take place in June 2023.
  2. Complete NEC Project Manager training. Details can be found here.

To assist RSUA members who wish to sit the Module 2 exam in June 2023, RSUA has partnered with Fortfield Brown to provide training for RSUA members.

Lectures will be delivered live via zoom weekly from 6:30pm to 8:30pm from 25th January 2023 to April 2023. Recordings will be uploaded to a dedicated learning app.

Tutor

The course will be delivered by William Brown, a director with Fortfield & Brown. William is a qualified civil engineer, solicitor and adjudicator. He is also a lecturer in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution at Queen’s University Belfast.

RSUA Practice Services Scheme subscriber rate £300 + VAT

RSUA member rate £360 + VAT

The Module 2 Examination will take place on 20 June 2023 and will cost £125 for ICE members or £150 for non-members.  This is a separate fee paid directly to ICE.
