Architecture Night 2016

The inaugural Architecture Night, held on 21st October 2016 in the Belfast Telegraph Print Works, turned out to be a great success as over 270 people gathered to celebrate architecture and its important role in enhancing life in Northern Ireland.

This was the first event ever held in the former Print Works. The newspaper relocated in August 2016 and the stripping out of the enormous printing presses and heavy bundling machinery is now complete. Left behind is a listed building coupled with a raw, industrial space steeped in the city’s history.

The evening was divided into three parts. Part 1 focused on the work of the best students from Belfast’s two schools of architecture. Part 2 showcased the 60 entries to the competition to design an architectural pavilion for Belfast and the winner will be revealed.

Finally, Part 3 Kevin McCloud received an Honorary Membership to the RSUA in recognition of his contribution to architecture in Northern Ireland.

The evening was a wonderful social occasion with a brilliantly diverse crowd of architects, students, friends of architecture and people who influence our built environment all enjoying the relaxed, lively atmosphere.
