RSUA members take to the water for social housing tour

06/12/2024

A group of brave RSUA members travelled across the water from Ballycastle to Rathlin Island this morning, for a tour of Studio Rogers’ social housing project in Church Bay.

The scheme is the first new-build social housing on the island in almost a decade. The development consists of two 3-bedroom houses, four 1-bedroom apartments and four 2-bedroom apartments, two of which are wheelchair accessible. The energy efficient design of this scheme is sympathetic to the beautiful landscape and character of the island and has been designed in line with Rural Housing Association’s design guide. The tour was delivered by Sam Dill from Studio Rogers, who shared the challenges of an island build with attendees.

The tour was followed by the RSUA General Meeting and refreshments by the fire in McCuaigs pub on the island.

Thank you to the members for joining us and to Studio Rogers, Rural Housing Association and Lowry Construction for accommodating us.
