RSUA Honorary Membership for Mary MacIntyre

20 November 2015

Mary MacIntyre, former Chief Planner for Northern Ireland, has been made an Honorary Member of the Royal Society of Ulster Architects (RSUA).

Speaking at the Autumn Dinner in advance of the Honorary Membership being conferred, Martin Hare, RSUA President said, “Great Architecture only develops within a truly collaborative environment in which key stakeholders are committed to a common vision of excellence. In this context the dynamic between architect and planner is central and therefore I decided that it would be from this field that I would make my nomination to Council for Honorary Membership.

“With this decision made the identification of the most appropriate recipient in that field was obvious – so obvious that in fact that I checked that RSUA had not bestowed the honour previously to this individual. Thankfully for me it had not.”

“I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Mary MacIntyre for Honorary Membership of RSUA.”

Frank McCloskey, former Director of RSUA provided a warm citation which provided a comprehensive overview of Mary’s contribution to Architecture in Northern Ireland
