NEC4 The Essentials

With most publicly funded projects in Northern Ireland using the NEC suite of contracts it is an area of expertise that can prove very useful for most construction professionals and is essential for some.  You may be relatively new to these contracts, you may wish to hone your considerable expertise or you may just want to refresh your knowledge and be prepared for the changes coming with NEC4.

To cater for this range of needs the RSUA has scheduled this one day workshop with Dr Jon Broome, one of the UK's leading NEC tutors.  All of Jon's previous RSUA workshops have been rated as 'excellent' by members.

Objectives:
At the end of the day, participants should appreciate:
- why the NEC was written
- its principal objectives
- how it is designed as a management tool
- the important clauses
- key implementation points and
- advantages and disadvantages of using it

Programme:
Session 1: Overview in 30 minutes
Session 2: Flexibility and Contract Strategy
Session 3: Key Players
Session 4: Sections 1, 2 ,4 and 5: the administrative clauses
Session 5: Change Management: Accepted Programme, Early Warnings and Compensation Events: Definitions, Timescales, Assessment
Session 6: Title, Liabilities and Insurance, Termination, Resolving and Avoiding Disputes
Session 7: Key Implementation and Points and Benefits

As a one day course, this programme includes 3 sydicate work sessions.
